‘Where’s My Refund?’ Don’t Ask the IRS

    • It’s not just that the website is down, the payments are being delayed as well. Everytime I use the Where’s My Refund application online, it states that my return is projected for payment on 14 Feb 2012. Unfortunately for the IRS, it is past 14 Feb 2012 and there still is no indication as to when to expect my refund. For an organization tasked with finding those who neglect to pay their taxes for prosecution, they are surely showing the public how effective (or lack thereof) they are in performing their jobs.

    • Now the page only say received and is being processed no deposit date…..and when you call the irs they have no info.

    • I was told by my tax lady that they do direct deposits on Thursday nights/Friday mornings. So, maybe people will get their returns in the am.

    • I have been told by several employees of the USPS who filed out their own returns on paper and mailed in, that the returns were sent back with instructions to e-file with an accountant or at their web site

    • The tool is down because of other reasons. Not because of a glitch in the system. There is no money for refunds, therefore until there is money to give, little will be going out. Once again, your tax dollars at work (or NOT).

    • It’s broke like the rest of our government!

    • Sure appears like the matter hasn’t been solved. I would suggest employing another organization and a highly regarded one this time around. ConsumerTaxReports.Org ought to be giving you that. They review tax relief agencies and report the discoveries. I had the identical experience and just in case I ever need help just as before, I recognize where to use to help me determine who to employ, ConsumerTaxReports.Org. http://Consumertaxreports.Org Send them an email and make sure they know how it happened and what your encounter ended up being.

    • The site is broke and so is the direct deposit refund chart

    • The National news said that people were filing fraudulent tax returns for refunds on stolen ss numbers and it is taking the tax authorities more time to track down or research the frauds vs the real returns. You would hate to have someone else get a refund on your ss number so you could not. Best they take their time and do it right.

    • I work in a small CPA firm and the returns may be a little delayed for 2011 as opposed to 2010 but it seems like not too much of a delay for efiled individual returns with direct depsosit refunds. Perhaps it varies in some cases. http://www.murraycavanaugh.com/blog.php

    • I can’t even stand to call the IRS. In my experience you wait forever and don’t get through.

On a side note, I’m in the process of creating a DVD course that will help people reduce back taxes without hiring an attorney.

If this sounds like something you need, go to my website and leave me your email.

    • I’m stuck in the same situation as soeother posters – I filed 2 months ag o and get the being processed message. It would help if we could at least speak to a real person but all we can get is a circle of phone numbers. Forget all this technology and put some people back to work . After all, they are supposed to work for us.

    • I finally E-filed my return in May 2012 after tax season (after an extension in April). With direct deposit setup, I had my refund for Federal and VA within a 2-3 weeks or so. Mike M. http://www.murraycavanaugh.com

    • Our Representatives in Congress have no incentive to abolish our present tax system, so it is up to us to let them know just how angry we are with the IRS and system of taxation. How profoundly unjust that poor people are forced to hand over hundreds of dollars of their hard earned money to “tax professionals” and how insanely ludicrous is it that we even need so called tax professionals because our tax code is an Alice in wonderland nightmare of confusion.

No one should be waiting for a refund at all because taxation does not to be this complicated. Take for example the Social Security tax. If you look at your pay-stub, notice then that 4.20% has been withheld for social security tax and 1.45% for medicare tax. Those two taxes together with your Federal withholding tax having been set aside by your employer then becomes the responsibility of your employer to forward those three taxes to the US Treasury. Now then consider how much easier your constitutionally guaranteed right to the pursuit if happiness would be if your employer simply deducted a certain percentage (decided by the Feds of course) such as 10% of your gross wages as withholding tax? No w2! No Tax Returns! No Refund! (but who cares!) Your taxes are paid paycheck to paycheck
and the government is no longer in the business of micro-managing your behavior either! Oh but you say then what about corporate taxes? Are not corporations people too? (Mitt R. thinks so). Well no. Corporations are NOT people that should “pay their fare share” as so may fools advocate. Every tax that is paid by a corporation is a tax paid by YOU the consumer, for ALL costs of production must be passed onto the consumer if a profit is to be realized. An even better way to go is to eliminate the income tax all together, and EVERYONE would then pay their local state sales tax and a National Sales tax at the same time. The means are already on place for the most part.
What do I mean? Well, here in Florida the state sales tax is 6% so you simply add the decided upon National Sales Tax of say 10%.
Cash Registers can simply be adjusted to ring up a combined sales tax of 16%. The business that made the sale then forwards
all sales tax collected to the Florida Department Of Revenue.
The Florida DOR then in turn forwards 10% of tax funds received to the US Treasury. Again, No W2s! No Tax Returns! No Refunds (Who cares!) No abusive tax preparation fees! Freedom! Can you dig it?

    • Hi Erika,Thanks for reading our tax rieslutoon blog and for pointing out that the form has changed. In revisiting this subject, Publication 783 and 784 are current and correct for the discharge and subordination on a tax lien. Publication 4235 is correct for contact addresses and phone numbers by state and is referenced in Form 12277. You are correct, Form 12277 is the correct form for the withdrawal of the lien for the purposes Bryan wrote about in the article. Publication 1450 is still current and correct for the release of the lien if satisfied by the statutory collection period, payment or bond. We apologize for this error and will be correcting the original blog entry.JK Harris

    • Debt charities and debt ctronol corporations are stretched to breaking point by the numbers of folks looking for help. They can highly likely have small experience of easy consumer borrowing issues and will struggle to barter with your lenders. If you’re told that you’ll have to go on a list then was seen, then ensure the person you’re talking to understands precisely what your current position is. If your selected or debt ctronol company has a three month list to see a cash advisor then get on the list and wait.

    • If you receive a 1098, it will tell you want you can reropt on your taxes. That amount is technically not a deduction, it is an adjustment to your income. It would be entered on line 33 (of form 1040) or line 18 (of 1040A). It will reduce you overall taxable income in a manner similar to a deduction. See page 30 of the attached pdf link from the IRS.

    • This year the tax code changes came late, causing the need to update the available tax forms, causing a wait with the acceptance of some forms, causing tax returns to be processed slower, causing refunds to be late. At Easy Web Taxes, you receive a confirmation email from the IRS to verify the receipt of your tax return, so you know when you return was accepted. According to the IRS, it will process in 21 to 24 calendar days.
