Gun Stocks Outperform After Colorado Shooting

Shares of gun maker Sturm Ruger (RGR) have jumped 2.4% since Friday’s Colorado theater shooting. Smith & Wesson (SWHC) shares are roughly flat. Both outperformed the Standard & Poor’s 500-stock index, which has fallen 1.7% since Friday.

Smith & Wesson M&P15 MOE Mid rifles are displayed at the Smith & Wesson booth at the National Shooting Sports Foundation’s 34th annual Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show.

The bizarre stock gains seem related to speculation that the massacre, in which a lone man allegedly shot and killed 12 people and wounded 58 others in a crowded Aurora movie theater using an AR-15 assault rifle and other legally obtained guns, will lead to a sales rush for such weapons amid fears the tragedy will lead to future bans or restrictions on sales.

“I don’t see a sell off based on Colorado,” wrote one stock message board commenter on Monday. “I see people hurrying to get armed before our Congress in its immense stupidity does something to take away the last vestige of our rights.”

The AR-15, made by Colt Manufacturing, is a version of the M-16 rifle carried by American soldiers during and after the Vietnam War. Whereas the M-16 is capable of continuous, “fully automatic” fire with a single trigger pull, the AR-15 is “semi-automatic”, requiring a separate pull of the trigger to fire each round. New rounds load automatically and the rifle can be equipped with a 30-round magazine.

Sturm Ruger and Smith & Wesson make similar weapons. The SR-556, made by Sturm Ruger, fires rounds similar to those once used in the M-16 and currently used by NATO troops. It holds a 30-round magazine and costs $1,995. The M&P 15 VTAC II Viking Tactics, made by Smith & Wesson, uses the same ammunition and also accepts a 30-round magazine. It sells for $1,949.

Both companies make semi-automatic, assault-style weapons that accept 30-round magazines and sell for less than $700.

Background checks for gun buyers in Colorado jumped 43% during the three days following the shooting, the Associated Press reports.

      DOM events from ExtJs Components
While some ExtJs Component classes export selected DOM events (e.g. “click”, “mouseover” etc), this
is usually only done when extra value can be added. For example the DataView’s
click event passing the node clicked on. To access DOM
events directly from a child element of a Component, we need to specify the element option to
identify the Component property to add a DOM listener to:

After the Component’s internal structure is rendered according to the renderTpl, this object is iterated through,
and the found Elements are added as properties to the Component using the renderSelector property name.
For example, a Component which rendered an image, and description into its element might use the following properties
coded into its prototype:renderTpl: ‘”imageUrl” class=”x-image-component-img””x-image-component-desc”‘,
      renderSelectors:
      image: ‘img.x-image-component-img’,
      descEl: ‘div.x-image-component-desc’

After rendering, the Component would have a property image referencing its child img Element,

You do not normally need to specify this. For the base classes Ext.Component
and Ext.Container, this defaults to null which means that they will be initially rendered
with no internal structure; they render their Element empty. The more specialized ExtJS and Touch classes
which use a more complex DOM structure, provide their own template definitions.
This is intended to allow the developer to create application-specific utility Components with customized
      internal structure.

If omitted, defaults to the object which fired the event.
delay : NumberThe number of milliseconds to delay the invocation of the handler after the event fires.
single : BooleanTrue to add a handler to handle just the next firing of the event, and then remove itself.
buffer : NumberCauses the handler to be scheduled to run in an Ext.util.DelayedTask delayed
by the specified number of milliseconds. If the event fires again within that time, the original
handler is not invoked, but the new handler is scheduled in its place.
target : ObservableOnly call the handler if the event was fired on the target Observable, not
if the event was bubbled up from a child Observable.
element : StringThis option is only valid for listeners bound to Components.
The name of a Component property which references an element to add a listener to.
This option is useful during Component construction to add DOM event listeners to elements of Components which
will exist only after the Component is rendered. For example, to add a click listener to a Panel’s body:new Ext.Panel(
      title: ‘The title’,
      listeners:
      click: this.handlePanelClick,
      element: ‘body’

      );
When added in this way, the options available are the options applicable to Ext.Element.addListener
      Combining Options
Using the options argument, it is possible to combine different types of listeners:
      A delayed, one-time listener.
      myPanel.on(‘hide’, this.handleClick, this,
      single: true,
      delay: 100
      );
Attaching multiple handlers in 1 call
The method also allows for a single argument to be passed which is a config object containing properties
which specify multiple events. For example:myGridPanel.on(
      cellClick: this.onCellClick,
      mouseover: this.onMouseOver,
      mouseout: this.onMouseOut,
scope: this // Important. Ensure “this” is correct during handler execution

This is commonly used by Ext.Components to bubble events to owner Containers. See Ext.Component.getBubbleTarget. The default
implementation in Ext.Component returns the Component’s immediate owner. But if a known target is required, this can be overridden to
access the required target more quickly.

I saw this on numerous other spots and I also work this over in the X-Men spot and other spots as well if your not familiar with how to play then here are the rules-
      1. A subject for the round is chosen.
      - The subject can be whatever you want; a scene, 1+ character.
      2. Everyone has 3 days to submit their icons on this forum.
      - No stealing icons or you’re out of the game.
      - Don’t use icons you’ve made in the past
      - Icon should be the size 100×100 it doesn’t have to be but it should be close to 100×100
      3. A pick will go up for voting.
      - There will be 1 day for voting
      - Don’t vote for yourself!!!
      - Please keep your vote to yourself until the pick is posted.
      4. The winner chooses the next subject.
      - If the winner doesn’t pick a topic within a few days of winning, I’ll pick the next subject.
      - The winner is still allowed to compete in the next round.
